Open innovation and performance in the service sector

Purpose Organizations that decide to invest in innovation must define how this will be done: internally, externally or a hybrid way, developing internal research and establishing partnerships with other agents of the system. This paper aims analyze whether service companies’ intensity openness efforts are related their innovative financial performances. Open assumes organizations should use external resources as they develop new technologies. Design/methodology/approach The study used data from survey technological (Pintec). As regards innovations, it was considered commercial operational performances novelty performance. performance, overall net sales per employee. open measured by combination breadth depth (diversity importance interfaces). effort spending on activities. Regressions were applied evaluate set hypotheses. Findings results indicate companies greater orientation toward presented better scores. also lead conclusion foreign firm ownership structure being part corporate group factors caused greatest impact performance sector.
